What was the venue, in what town and what was the couple’s name?
The barn at Madison in Madison, PA. Todd and Alexis Van Der Bogart.
How did the couple meet?
We met while stationed in Hawaii.
How did the groom propose?
He took me the a boardwalk on Solomon’s Island, Md after dinner at The Lighthouse. It was sunset and we got ice cream after.
What was their first date?
First date was at White Planes to teach me how to surf. It’s a beach where beginners learn to surf.
Alexis and Todd wedding day started out very cold, but amazingly sunny. We were all praying for a no rain day after the heavy rain we had the few days beforehand. We were very fortunate with all sun and barely any clouds. It warmed the barn just enough to enjoy the inside and the outside while we braved the cold. I never had the chance to meet with the couple beforehand as they were living in Maryland up until wedding day. I was able to talk to them on the phone and learn a little about their wedding day, but other than that, I was going in blind. Alexis was so sweet on the phone, so I knew that was the kind of bride I would be working with, and I was SOO right! Both her and Todd were so welcoming and sweet, a great couple with the best family and friends, who loved them both so much!
I had never had the privilege to photograph at the Barn at Madison, so this day was full of firsts for me all around. OH MY HEAVENS! This barn was an absolute dream and had everything I love about a venue. All white room for the bridal party, with a spiral stair case and sky lights. DREAMY!! There was a balcony off of the room that gave the best photo ops, and the perfect place for a dress photo... just you wait and see.
The ceremony was held outside, under a tundra, which was amazingly lit and beautiful, no matter the weather. it was perfect. I loved the little snickers they shared together as they spoke their vows and just how in love they are. It was a short and sweet ceremony, but just long enough to be to the point and everything they needed.
The reception was so sweet. It was in a beautiful white room with another white spiral staircase, decorated with a golden fall theme. They were welcomed in where they went straight into their first dance, followed by the cake cutting. After dinner, it was time to party, but only after we headed to that balcony to get the perfect night photo!
I couldn't ask for a more perfect day as a photographer and Wish both Alexis and Todd the most magical marriage with their family!
