A Winter Wedding in Washington | Brandy & Peter | Washington, PA
What was the venue, in what town and what was the couple’s name?
Julian”s Banquet Hall Washington PA 15301. Brandy and Peter Karney
How did the couple meet?
We worked for the same company in the summer of 2014. I was a District Manager in Harrisburg PA and we had a neighboring District office in York PA. Every week we ran team meetings on the same days as the whole country. Being that I’m a child at heart, I took my team to Toys R Us to buy Nerf guns and masks, with the intention to “invade” the York PA’s office to run their team meeting for them. The plot twist, is that this meeting just so happened to be Brandy’s interview in that very same York office! As she sat there nervously waiting for her interview with the manager, my team and I burst through the door, sending a flurry of nerf darts through both meeting rooms. Brandy grabbed a nearby blanket to avoid being hit, and the rest ducked under desks. After the chaos, I ran the meeting for all 40 people in attendance from both offices. This was how I met my wife, and I still have the video of the invasion to prove it. :-)
How did the groom propose?
I invited my mother, brother, sister, and Brandy ice skating at PPG place around the massive Christmas tree they place there. After a few laps, it began to snow the most perfect light flurry. At that point Brandy asked if we could get a picture. How convenient! I had planned on having my brother record it with my phone, and my mom take pictures with her phone, both of whom knew ahead of time and were on the sidelines. I gave my phone away, then waited for a break in the traffic of skaters, then dropped on my knee. Looking back, I don’t even know if I actually asked her anything, and I know she didn’t say anything. I dropped, she balled, we hugged, and we had our answer without any words. It was perfect!
What was their first date?
Our first real date, was ice skating. 2014 Christmas season came along and I invited Brandy to my mother’s house so she wouldn’t be by herself for the holiday. My mother was happy to accept her and this holiday week was really when we slowed down and formed a much deeper relationship. I took her to West Virginia (her home state) and we skated with 4 friends for a few hours having a blast!
